newyearsresolutionsTonight’s the night.  Whether we stay home, party with friends, watch the ball drop in Time Square or head to bed early, at some point today we’re all going to ask ourselves: will next year be any different?

Many of us will make an effort to make our lives better by exercising more or drinking less.  Some of the more noble among us may even resolve to make someone else’s life a little better by volunteering or donating more.   (Don’t be fooled… to date, I’ve never been included in this group.)  But it did occur to me that there’s a way to do both.  Simply said… get involved in church.

I’m not joking.  Everyone wins when we get plugged into church.  It’s easy to think of this complicated institution as just a charity or just a place to worship but it’s so much more.  It’s worship, education, community and charity all rolled into one and every time someone plugs in the blessings grow that much more.  People are blessed because you are there.  You are blessed because you are there.  Two birds.  One stone.  Think about it.

Sure.  It’s easy to see this as a self serving blog post.  And, of course, if you live near Saginaw and would like to try this theory out at St. John’s, then welcome aboard!  But if you subscribe to a different tradition or live in a different place.  Try it out anyway.  Let us know how it goes.  We’ll leave the comments open for a while.  😉

Happy New Year!  And be blessed!
