This June we have an exciting event taking place within the Episcopal Church. The house of bishops will be electing a new Presiding Bishop on June 27th. This process determines who will lead our denomination for the next nine years, a critical time in the life of the church. The Office of Presiding Bishop in the American Episcopal Church is equivalent to the office of an archbishop and it is part of a group of Anglican leaders known as Primates (those who lead each of the churches of the Anglican Communion). Unlike the Archbishop of Canterbury, however, the Presiding Bishop does not govern a diocese, but instead focuses solely on leadership of the entire denomination.

I encourage each of us to read the biographies of the candidates found at the following internet source:

Pray that God will guide the bishops in their voting and that God will grant us a new leader who is able to lead us through the many challenges facing the church in our time.
