“Share the Gift”
That’s what Fr. Daniel said when I asked what the first priority should be for our St. John’s office staff. Our parish family has some great gifts to offer! Beautiful music, a growing children’s program, reverent Sunday services and relevant outreach only begin to tell our story. But how do we share these gifts? As Episcopalians we tend to thrive in theory and philosophy, but this time, contrary to our nature, I think we need to embrace the literal by sharing our gifts.
How do we share the gift? We refuse to act alone.
When we come to a church event, we can also bring a friend or talk it up to our families and friends. When someone has a question, we bring it to a group… and follow up!
We share pictures on Facebook. We share videos on youTube. (We can also share links to blog posts if we felt so inspired… When someone is missing, we tell them they are missed. When someone makes an effort, we tell them they are appreciated.
Over all, I’m pretty excited about some of the new technology our office is using (including our new website) because it provides all of us with concrete ways to reach out. Please join us and make a conscious, prayerful effort to… you guessed it… share the gift!
